Situated near enough to walk to Khao San Rd, but far away enough for it to be pretty quiet, round the back of the Wat at the end of Khao San, you can sometimes wake up to the sound of minks chanting. Both guesthouses are reasonably priced (from 150 Baht for shared bathroom), have clean basic rooms and a TV restaurant downstairs, but I would recommend people to eat out rather than in there.

Lovely quiet wooden bungalows with hammocks, mosquito nets and fan, very basic. From 200 Baht. Run by a Thai lady and her Kiwi husband. Granny and Granddad also hang around and will be happy to show you round their veggie patch or go fishing. Watch out for the Tookays! (lizards).

Quiet, clean well built brick bungalows with bathroom. From 300 Baht. Run by a Thai man and his American wife. Very very friendly couple, great food and conversation. Both Rainbow and Blue Lotus can be tricky getting to and from Had Rin as taxi rides can cost up to 300 Baht if nobody else is getting in! Good for the half or black moon parties though as they are just round the corner. Both places have nice guard dogs too, so you never need to worry to much about your room being broken into.

Coral is becoming a bit of an institute with its tours round the island, Muay Thai nights and plans to build a small shop on the Coral site. Coral has a pool, good TV area, pool table and internet cafe. And the staff are great!
