Guide To Thailand
Thailand is the number one traveler's destination because traveling is cheap, traveling is relatively easy and traveling is good fun. There are many great places to visit in Thailand and many travelers find them selves running out of time. A popular choice is to visit the northern cities and then the southern islands, but a reasonable amount of time is needed to even do a fraction of this.
Thailand can still be raw even though tourism and Western culture has engulfed the country in the last few decades. There are still many places to travel in Thailand that are untouched and finding these places is a matter of getting off the tourist trail. The great thing about Thailand is that it doesn't matter what you want out of your traveling experience, Thailand will be able to offer it, huge bustling cities, tropical islands, hill trekking or authentic Thai Food, Thailand has it all. Thailand has been the number one traveler's destination for decades and once you have visited you are almost certain to go back again.
Perhaps the reason why Thailand is so popular, is that everything is reasonably close. With the increase in cheap domestic flights you can fly to Chang Mai from Bangkok in about an hour. Thailand also has a good infrastrcuture and over night buses from Bangkok to Koh Samui are frequent. Catching a bus with the locals can be a huge experience and a lot more fun than the scheduled tourist buses that leave Koh San Road.
If you are traveling Thailand on a budget then you can save a lot by eating at the street vendors. The cost of an average meal can be as little as 30 pence as long as you make sure you are paying the non Farang price. You will not have to worry about finding anywhere to eat as when you are in Thailand you are never far away from a guy on a bike selling Noodles.
When visiting Thailand the main areas on the tourist trail are Bangkok, the North and the South. You will almost certainly arrive in the bustling Metropolis Bangkok and will use this as your base for your trip. The North is famous for the hill trekking while the South is famous for the islands. It is important that you plan ahead as how you are going to manage your time as there is a lot to see.
